Course Structure
Part 1: Foundations

Techniques and strategies to avoid psychological barriers to public speaking are discussed to reassure and prepare students for success.

Non-verbal communication techniques of the body and voice are discussed and demonstrated as a tool to engage audience members and guide their listening.

Students learn to identify the needs and interests of their audience members and structure their content for success.

Students learn how to use tone, pacing, and emphasis to underscore important ideas and increase audience engagement during presentations.

Additional concepts including impromptu speaking and audience engagement are discussed. Students are tasked with presenting a Political Campaign Speech.
